DANCE CLASSES
TINY TOTS
Students are expected to remain at this level between 1-2 years. In this class, your toddler will begin to learn the foundations of Dance through thematic concepts that will encourage the development of fine motor skills, classroom etiquette, and overall body awareness. Goals for students in this level include learning how to stand in a poised manner, using balance, correct arm placement, and always finding joy in each movement. Props, creative play and repetition are just some of the tools used (must be potty trained). 30 min
MOMMY (or DADDY) & ME
2-3 years old – Toddlers and their parents will engage in stretching and moving together. Students will sing, dance, and even learn sign language during this special time together each week. In this class our goal is to instill a joy for dance and worship in a safe environment as well as teach parents how to engage in music and motion together with their toddlers. 30 min
DANCE FOUNDATIONS (Tap, Jazz, Acro)
This all-in-one class will provide students a chance to experience three different dance styles. Ballet instruction includes vocabulary, foot positions and basic barre work. Jazz instruction will include musical awareness, theatrics, conditioning, leaps, and turns. This style of dance is often used in musical theatre. Acro instruction will include working on skills like balance, tumbling and using ribbons, rings and scarves. 45 min
BALLET I
Students are expected to remain in the level between 1-2 years. Prior experience in Dance Foundations is recommended; however, students may enter this level without taking Dance Foundations based on their experience, body awareness, and ability to follow directions. Goals for students in this level include learning how to stand in a poised manner, understanding spatial instructions, and dancing musically and rhythmically. 45 min
BALLET II
Students are expected to remain in this level between 2-3 years. Prior experience in Ballet I is recommended; however, students may enter this level without taking Ballet I based on their experience, body awareness, and artistry. Goals for students in this level include learning all the positions of the feet and arms, mastering various body positions, and dancing musically and rhythmically. 60 min
WORSHIP KIDS
Worship dance embraces the gift of dance solely for praising the God that created us. This class gives dancers the opportunity to turn off everyday life and enter into a time of prayer and worshiping Jesus through movement. Dancers will pray together, explore expressive dance improvisation to Christian music, and partake in a short Bible study that leads into creative group, partner, and solo assignments inspired by Bible passages, worship song lyrics, and prayer. It is our desire to glorify and give back to God the gift of dance that He has given us! 45 min. 1st-3rd gr
JUNIOR WORSHIP DANCE
Worship dance embraces the gift of dance solely for praising the God that created us. This class gives dancers the opportunity to turn off everyday life and enter into a time of prayer and worshiping Jesus through movement. Dancers will pray together, explore expressive dance improvisation to Christian music, and partake in a short Bible study that leads into creative group, partner, and solo assignments inspired by Bible passages, worship song lyrics, and prayer. It is our desire to glorify and give back to God the gift of dance that He has given us! 60 min. 4th -6th gr.
TEEN WORSHIP DANCE
Worship dance embraces the gift of dance solely for praising the God that created us. This class gives dancers the opportunity to turn off everyday life and enter into a time of prayer and worshiping Jesus through movement. Dancers will pray together, explore expressive dance improvisation to Christian music, and partake in a short Bible study that leads into creative group, partner, and solo assignments inspired by Bible passages, worship song lyrics, and prayer. This class also involves creating human videos; dramatic dances communicating important Biblical messages. It is our desire to glorify and give back to God the gift of dance that He has given us! 60 min. 7th-12th gr.
CONTEMPORARY
This is an introductory class into contemporary dance. Contemporary encompasses different elements of modern, ballet, jazz and hip hop. It is often lyric driven and involves abstract movement and may be combined with spoken words or music. This art form is athletic and often focuses on the use of long extensions, turns, and daring tricks that often transition to and from the floor. The students will largely focus on phrase work and building on choreography from week to week. Students must have dance experience to join this class. 60 min.
DANCE TECHNIQUE
This class is provided as enrichment for our advanced students looking to master turns, leaps and jumps. Both virtual and in-person demonstrations will be provided in this class. Students will also study and learn proper dance vocabulary. This class is designed to give tools to our students for per-professional dance classes, auditions and higher education. 60 min.
OTHER CLASSES
COSTUME DESIGN
Creating a body of costumes for a production based on the production vision, theme, and message while staying within a budget. Lessons will include using vision boards, theming, leaving an impression through costumes, tricks of the trade, quick changes, budget, reusing what you have, fittings. A fun & interactive class with plenty of opportunities for creativity and expressions. Skills will be gained through sourcing pieces, design and constructing garments. They will learn care, storage and organization of costumes, steaming, show set-up, repairs and cleaning. Students will be encouraged to volunteer to be a part of our backstage costume team. 60 min. Teens & adults
SET DESIGN
Students will be helping to construct the sets for our plays, productions & musicals. This includes construction basics, design, building & painting. Students will learn how to create for maximum effect on a budget. These students will get to see their vision as a team come alive on stage. Mature students will also be asked if they would like to be a part of the backstage crew. 60 min.
PROP DESIGN
Prop design students will work alongside our costume and set teams to furbish our actors with the appropriate props for their shows. Students will learn how to find new or used pieces or create their own. Emphasis is made on finding creative solutions and sticking to a budget in designing well made props. Props are the icing on the cake, the accessories that really bring a show to the next level. These students will use their creative gifts to make those special touches come alive! Mature students will be asked to help with prop management backstage. 60 min.
